The infantry does not adopt a real tactical formation like the Line or the Column but tends to crush and expand against the attacked side. Once the attack is over, they must lose a move to get on tactical formation. Each unit can attack only one side, and four battalions at most can attack one building. When the battalion leaves the facility, it is in open order and needs half a move to form (except for the Light infantry for which the open formation is itself a tactical one). Units inside can fire during their fire phase and at the moment of the first contact. They can make one shot for each company contained in the building.
The combat of the troops around the building is not part of a multiple melee, but always of an autonomous combat. They compare as usual the points of the attacking battalions with those of the force in defense. To assault a building in close combat, the attackers have to put the bases adjacent to the walls.
They can fire to any units within their range and not only at the ones besieging. During the melee phase, they cannot use reaction fire when the enemy units are massed.
For the value of the attack, the combat values of all the battalions in contact with the building are added together. For example, one line battalions and one grenadier battalion have a total value of (3+4) 7 points. For the value of the defense the value of the garrison battalion is doubled regardless of the number of companies (bases). To give an example, three line battalions (3 + 3 + 3) that besiege a house covered by three grenadier bases (4 x 2) will start from (9-8) = + 1 on the melee chart.
In case of garrisons company of different value inside the same building will count the one chosen by the player who will be the one who will receive the first losses.
When the differential is calculated, the striker draws a number by rolling two dice, goes to the melee chart, crosses the extracted result (row) with the column of the differential and defines the losses. In close combat for a building, troops in defense and attack suffer losses but ignore the effects of morale. To remove the garrison, the attacker must eliminate all defenders and the remaining single company, although in line, is not removed as usual until the last soldier is killed. In the photo above the fighting around the building is separated from the one around the wall. In this case we have 3 (French infantry), against 3 (English light infantry) and 3 points (for the 3 companies behind the wall)
